This summer we decided to put our ice cream churn to work by making as many different churns of ice cream as we could.
We took turns deciding which flavor of ice cream to make and from May 24 until September 3 we made 14 churns of ice cream. We each picked a favorite from the list for our taste-off.
Here’s a video describing our project.
This was such a fun project full of authentic learning.
- how to make ice cream
- measurement concepts
- how an ice cream churn works
- changes in states of matter
- five senses
- communication skills
- voting process
- data collection and analysis
- counting and numbers
We also experienced the joy of sharing our ice cream with others and the excitement of waiting to see which flavor came out on top.
